TexasSpeaks survey

Just wanted to let you know about an initiative that is happening state wide with Texas AgriLife. Our agency seeks community input on a regular basis. This year the process is call” Texas Speaks.”

TexasSpeaks Process TexasSpeaks will be conducted state-wide between February 1, 2021 and March 31, 2021 (end date subject to change). The process will be conducted virtually using online data collection technology. Citizens will be asked to identify both strengths and needs within their community.

Issues will be identified that Extension is not equipped to respond to, and those will be shared with other agencies and organizations who can respond appropriately. The following process should involve a diverse and representative group of individuals. We want to hear from as many people as possible.

You can provide your input by going to the following tx.ag/texasspeaks

NEW! RECOGNITION

Due to constraints related to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no face-to-face recognition luncheon or event in College Station during Roundup.  Honorees will be presented their awards locally and recognized state-wide through media efforts.  Creative, exciting ideas are being planned to ensure this year’s award winners still feel the excitement and honor of receiving this award.

4-H Story Submission

It's no secret that EVERY 4-H'er has a story; a story unique to them. We think it's time more of those stories get told! Doing this can bring our youth together, encourage each other, and invite new members into the program. Stories of participating, learning, excelling, helping, serving; the list goes on!

We are excited about the opportunity to share these stories in various avenues, one of those being RFDTV and The Cowboy Channel! But, before we can re-tell that story, we need to hear about it! No one knows the many 4-H stories of youth across the state better than you, their agents. Want your youth to be featured? The first step is to submit their story! These stories do NOT have to be agriculturally focused as we will be using these stories across various avenues and we want to feature youth in every project and opportunity within 4-H. When nominating youth to be featured, think creatively of all the ways in which their story can be interpreted and all of the project areas it extends into.

These submissions can be about a single youth who has done exceptionally well in one area or another, or about someone who's life was truly changed because of the program, or about a group who created a unique event or opportunity in your county, or a club who is doing extraordinary things...The options are truly endless!

Please submit these stories at: https://forms.gle/v1qwPjJmhEs11yS47

Meeting Guidelines

We received guidance today from the state office, this guidance applies to all groups and meetings through January 6, 2021. This “guidance” lists our county in the RED zone.  Basically it gives us guidance (mandate) on when we can host, sponsor or travel under the umbrella of Texas AgriLife Extension. Since the effects of the pandemic vary so widely from county to county, the state office of Texas AgriLife Extension Service will now be the ones sending guidelines out for the counties.

This includes:

  1. All 4-H meetings and events ( and parties),
  2. All Master Gardener events and work days.
  3. Master Naturalist events, activities, orientation or workdays.

Effective Immediately until the new year- we are not to have any IN PERSON:

- any meetings regardless of the site (indoor/outdoor)

- no practices in person  (shooting, horse, or otherwise)

- workdays at any site

- no Christmas parties anywhere

- no trainings or orientations

Our conference room and grounds will be closed to all except barn boarders and office visits.

Please remember – this is a proactive approach to help keep all of us healthy. We all need to remember to wear face masks and practice proper hygiene to keep you and others safe.

We DO have the means and ability to do everything but workdays virtually. Ask and we will help you with the technology.

We are in the office, working, doing virtual programs, program planning for next year, answering phone calls, finishing year end reports, processing stock show entries…..

Please contact any of us if you have questions or concerns at 830-620-3440.
