Texas 4-H Poultry Ambassador Short Course - Due May 1

Texas 4-H and Texas A&M Poultry Science are partnering up to bring you the inaugural Texas 4-H Poultry Ambassador Short Course in June of 2022! Modeled after the Texas 4-H Equine and Livestock Ambassador Programs, the Texas 4-H Poultry Ambassador Program is designed to provide high school aged 4-H members the opportunity to develop and practice advanced leadership skills related to mentoring other youth, and to become advocates for the poultry industry. As a part of this program, Ambassadors must contribute 40 hours of service in poultry advocacy and mentoring other youth on the local, district and state level through opportunities such as clinics, presentations, and mentorship to new 4-H families. Not only that, Ambassadors are charged with seeking and creating poultry advocacy engagements through civic clubs, radio stations, newspapers, television, social media, grocery stores, major shows and elected official interactions.

Applications are now open for our 2022-2023 class of Ambassadors, and they will close on May 1st. Our short course will be held June 15-17, 2022 at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX.

Fashion & Interior Design Ambassador Applications Open, due April 7

4-H Fashion and Interior Design Ambassador program are open for the next 2-year term. Up to 30 youth will be selected to serve in this statewide leadership position. The 4-H FID Ambassador program is looking for youth that are dedicated, mature and dependable.

Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador, Applications due May 1

The Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador program is seeking motivated, passionate, and hard-working teens to improve the lives of Texans! Do you have teens in your county who are looking to make a difference in their health and the health of others? If so, the HEALTHY TEXAS YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM is the perfect opportunity for them to become trained in health, wellness, and safety while helping you grow your local program efforts!












This program is designed for high school age youth (grades 9-12) who have a passion for health and wellness. These youth will be trained at the regional level to become youth health experts who can motivate others to make a change in their lifestyle to improve their health. More importantly, these ambassadors will assist local county extension agents with program efforts, project activities, and much more! 2022 Short Course Offering: 

  1. Texas 4-H Equine Ambassador Short Course, Tarleton State University – June 13-16, 2022
  2. Texas 4-H Poultry Ambassador Short Course, Texas A&M University – June 15-17, 2022
  3. Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador Short Course, Texas A&M University-Kingsville – June 20-23, 2022
  4. Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador Short Course, Texas A&M University – July 18-21, 2022
  5. Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador Short Course, West Texas A&M/Texas Tech University – July 25-28, 2022

Selection Criteria: 

    • Senior level (grades 9-12) 4-H youth that have exhibited a superior level of ambition regarding his/her livestock/equine/poultry projects 
    • Students with a profound interest in animal/equine/poultry science, animal production and advocacy 
    • Students have shown advanced leadership qualities and a willingness to help others 
    • Top 25% class rank 

Application Process: 

    1. Applications will be released on the Texas Youth Livestock and Agriculture website (www.texasyouthlivestock.com) on February 15, 2022
    2. Student will complete the application and enter the contact information of supervising County Extension Agent
    3. CEA will be automatically emailed a recommendation survey
    4. A selection committee will review the applications and accept up to 25 participants per short course 
    5. Applications are due May 1, 2022
