District 10 4-H Photography Workshop (April 29) - Our District 10 4-H Photography Ambassadors will be graciously hosting a 1-day Photography Workshop to 4-H members of all age divisions on April 29th, 2023 (Saturday) from 9AM – 2PM at the Gillespie County Extension Office. 

4-H members will receive instruction in areas of composition, color theory, still life, and photography judging! Mr. Dave Richards, Professional Wildlife Photographer will be the special guest instructor! See details below.

Registration Information: Registration will take place on 4HOnline.

• Registration Opens: March 27, 2023
• Registration Deadline: April 14, 2023 (NO LATE REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED)
• This workshop is LIMITED to the first 50 youth participants! 
• Parents/adults are welcome to attend with their youth, however, we are limiting (1) parent/adult per youth.
• Workshop fee per youth is FREE! 
• Lunch provided to all participants (youth/adults).

Photography workshop - January 15-16

4-H members of all ages, including Clover Kids, are invited to participate in a photography workshop held by the Photography Ambassadors. The workshop will take place in Corpus Christi, Texas on January 15-16, 2022. The practice will include day time and night time beach photography, Harbor Bridge, Downtown Seawall, Bob Hall Pier, and more! Transportation and accommodations are on your own, and parent or guardian attendance is mandatory. Participants can attend just one day of the workshop, or both. 2020-2021 Texas 4-H Photography Contest Rules

Below is a link to this year’s photography contest rules and categories. Please note there are new categories.  There is also a change in the photo file size parameters.  Hopefully, this will make things a bit easier for our kids and judges.

Texas 4-H Junior Master Photographer Workshop I - UPDATE

Junior Master Photographer training scheduled for September 26 is now active on 4HOnline.  As in the past, youth must have an active enrollment in order to register. 

 

A new location for the workshop has been secured and will take place in Kerrville at the Hill Country Youth Event Center.

Space is limited to the first 40 registered participants.

The Texas 4-H Junior Master Photographer (JMP) program provides advanced instruction to photography enthusiasts.  As a Junior Master Photographer, youth will be expected to return to their counties and districts to serve as teen leaders for the project. Additionally, Junior Master Photographers may be called upon by the County Extension Agent or 4-H Specialist to serve as photographers for various 4-H events and activities.  Only dedicated photography project youth wishing to expand their knowledge as well as service to others should apply for this opportunity.  In other words, youth do need to have a good working knowledge of their camera prior to attending this advanced training.

 

To be a certified Junior Master Photographer, candidates must:

 

 

Although there is no yearly performance requirement, Junior Master Photographers are expected to return to counties and districts to help expand their photography programs. They receive the Junior Master Photographer pin and certificate. Certified JMPs in 9^th grade are eligible to apply to the State 4-H Photography Ambassador Program.

 

The JMP training consists of two one-day workshops.  Below are the details for both:

Date:  Sunday, December 13

Texas 4-H Photography Contest

After further discussion with our Texas 4-H Youth Development Director Dr. Williams, we have made the decision to alter the state 4-H photography contest in the following manner:

• The contest will be open to all seniors, with a limit of 1 photo per category.
• No county qualifying is required. 
• Due to the unknown number of entries we may receive, the dates when awards will be announced and distributed will be determined at the completion of judging.

Please disregard the download process I recommended in my previous email since there is no need to qualify any photos.

Youth Entry Time Period:                              April 1-15

Texas 4-H Photography Contest

The State Photography entry period is coming up! 

 

As per the state rules we can only approve 1 photo as an entry per category for the county. If you would like to have a photo considered for the state contest, photos must be submitted to the county office at comal-tx@tamu.edu by March 31 at 5 pm. Entries must include contestant's name and the photo's category. Photos will be judged by an outside source and winners will be notified to enter on 4-H connect.
