Kimble County 4-H Judging Contest - open now, April 15

Please see the flyer for Kimble County invitational. The invitational will be on April 15th at 202 S 8th St, Junction, TX 76849. Wool & Mohair will start at 10 am and Plant ID will start at 1 pm.

4-H Plant ID results

Clover Kudos to the:

Comal County Junior Team – Weston Ackermann, Sally Boatright, Rylee Wunderlich, Macey Wunderlich – placed 3^rd as a team and Weston placed 5^th as an individual

Comal County Senior Team – Keene Kreusler, Reagan Ackermann, Ray Allen Schaefer, Dylan Wunderlich – placed 2^nd as a team and Keene placed 2^nd and Reagan placed 4^th as individuals

There were a total of 33 contestants and 11 teams competing, a very good showing for a completely new format for this contest.

Comal County Range and Pasture Grass ID and Range Evaluation - Community Service

Members of the Comal County Range and Pasture Grass ID and Range Evaluation teams spent time cleaning up the grass beds at the extension office this week. The beds are used for educational purposes and are open to anyone wanting to learn more about Texas grasses.

Comal County 4-H Council

Each 4-H club in Comal County has the opportunity to have FOUR (4) representatives to the Comal County 4-H Council, one of which shall be the club president. Traditionally, clubs elect 3 council delegates and 2 alternate delegates.

4-H VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION - An Excellent Online Resource

The Texas 4-H & Youth Development Program would like to remind volunteers of the online orientation course for 4-H volunteers. The goal of this course is to provide volunteers with an understanding of the organizational structure of Texas AgriLife Extension Service and how the 4-H program operates. It also helps volunteers recognize their roles and responsibilities within the structure and program. Specifically, the course provides information on the following:

• An overview of Texas AgriLife Extension Service
• 4-H 101: Facts about 4-H
• An overview of the various methods of participation available in the 4-H program
• Volunteer qualifications, roles in which volunteers may serve and the responsibilities associated with each role
• A list of various resources for 4-H volunteers

The course is available online at: http://campus.extension.org and can be completed within one hour. If a volunteer cannot complete the orientation in one sitting, they do have the capabilities to come back to it at a later time.

Once the course is complete, the volunteers may print off a completion certificate.
