STATE FAIR Lamb and Goat tag orders - Due March 30

Validation tags for STATE FAIR lamb & goats are now available to purchase.

See below for the Lamb and Goat tag order form. Please complete this form and return it with payment to the Comal County Extension Office by 5:00 pm on March 30, 2023. The validation date, time, and location are to be determined.

You may either mail payment to the office or use the locked drop-box by the office front door. Our mailing address is 325 Resource Dr., New Braunfels, TX 78132.

We are open Monday through Friday, 8-12 and 1-5, if you'd like to drop the payment and form off at the office.

Tags ordered before 5pm on March 30 are $20 each.

Tags ordered after March 30 are $30 each.

Lamb & Goat Validation updates

•  NEW- Validation of breeding animals for State Fair is now required. This includes: registered breeding sheep and goats as well as wether dams and does
• NEW- Roll-Over Breeding Program.

The Texas Lamb and Goat Validation of Texas is pleased to announce the introduction of the Roll-over Breeding Sheep and Breeding Goat program.

Who does this impact? Registered breeding sheep, registered breeding goats, wether/commercial dams, and wether/commercial does ONLY

Who does this NOT impact? Market lambs and market goats

What does this mean? Beginning June 1, 2021, registered breeding sheep, registered breeding goats, wether/commercial dams, and wether/commercial does will have 3 total years of eligibility UNLESS A CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP TAKES PLACE. This will be offered during major show validation as well. Put plainly- if you validate for State Fair during the June 2021 validation period, your validation will be eligible until June 2024, unless a change of ownership occurs during that time- then you must re-validate. If you validate during the October 2021 validation period for major shows, your validation will be eligible until October 2024, unless a change of ownership occurs during that time- then you must re-validate.

• NEW- Family validation for ALL sheep and goats- this includes registered breeding sheep and goats
• Projects must meet criteria found in the validation guidelines to be family validated
• Projects do not have to be family validated, but only the name(s) listed on BOTH the validation form and registration papers will be eligible to exhibit the project.
• You may only family validate if the registration papers list the full name of each exhibitor
• No ranch names may be listed EX: The Validation Family or The Validation Ranch

• The ownership and registration deadline for State Fair is June 30^th

State Fair animal validation tags - Due April 15

This is the time to order your Validation Tags for swine, lamb & goat livestock projects you will be raising for the 2021 State Fair of Texas.

Please fill out the appropriate tag order form (link below) and either mail payment to the office or use the locked drop-box by the office front door.  Our mailing address is 325 Resource Dr., New Braunfels, TX 78132.

All tags ordered before 5pm on April 15^th will cost $18 each.

All Late Tag Orders will cost $30 each.

Note: New this year breeding sheep and goats must be validated for the State Fair of Texas

Late Lamb & Goat Tags due October 2

Late Lamb and Goat validation tags will be available until October 2nd!

Cost is $30/animal and must be ordered and paid for by 5pm on Friday, October 2nd.

Reminder - Lamb & Goat Tags for Major Livestock Shows

To help with consistency and record keeping this year, we are introducing order forms for tag orders. No orders will be finalized without both the form and FULL payment. Orders are due directly to the extension office by Wednesday, August 26 @ 5pm.

 

Lamb and Goat validation tags will be available starting August 1st!

Cost is $18/animal and must be ordered and paid for by Wednesday, August 26th. 

Tags purchased after August 26 will be $30/animal.

You can submit the form and payment to the Extension Office by dropping them off in the black box by the front door or by appointment with the Extension Office (please call prior to arrival). You can also mail the form and payment to 325 Resource Dr., New Braunfels, TX 78132. It is your responsibility to make sure the mail arrives before the due date.

We are open 8-12 and 1-5, Monday through Friday.
