Steer/Heifer tag orders - due March 30
**NEW** FOR 2023, all state validated heifers will be tagged similar to steers.
Please fill out the order form (link below) and drop off the form and payment to the office. We are open M-F, 8-12 and 1-5. You may also mail the form to 325 Resource Dr., New Braunfels, TX 78132, or drop off after hours in the black drop box on the wall by the front door.

STATE FAIR Lamb and Goat tag orders - Due March 30
See below for the Lamb and Goat tag order form. Please complete this form and return it with payment to the Comal County Extension Office by 5:00 pm on March 30, 2023. The validation date, time, and location are to be determined.
You may either mail payment to the office or use the locked drop-box by the office front door. Our mailing address is 325 Resource Dr., New Braunfels, TX 78132.
We are open Monday through Friday, 8-12 and 1-5, if you'd like to drop the payment and form off at the office.
Tags ordered before 5pm on March 30 are $20 each.

Lamb and Goat tags for Major and County shows, due August 10
Lamb and Goat validation tags for Major and County shows are now available for purchase.
See below for the Lamb and Goat tag order form. The form and payment are due to the extension office by Wednesday, August 10 @ 5pm.
The cost is $20/animal.
Tags purchased after August 10 will be $30/animal.
You can submit the form and payment to the Extension Office by dropping it off in the office or in the black box by the front door. You may also pay by credit card over the phone after emailing (comal-tx@ag.tamu.edu) the form in. There is a nominal fee for using the credit card.
We are open 8-12 and 1-5, Monday through Friday.

Steer Validation, June 20 and 27
Validation for Steers and Heifers will be on
June 20 and June 27, 8 am - 12 pm,
at the Comal County Fairgrounds.
Validation for State Fair animals, June 27
Validation for all State Fair animals (2nd date for Steers and Heifers) will be on June 27, starting at 8 am, at the Comal County Fairgrounds.
Horse Validation, regular deadline April 15
The cost of validation is $10.00 per horse if the validation is submitted, approved at the county level, and payment is processed between March 1st and April 15th.

Swine Validation - November 17 @ 1-6 pm
4-H Swine validation will be held at the Extension Barns on November 17 from 1 - 6 pm.

Steers, Heifers for majors & county animal validation tags - Due April 15
It is that time of year to start thinking about ordering your Validation Tags for any Steer or Heifer projects you are wanting to show at the 2022 Major shows and 2022 County Youth Show.
Please fill out the appropriate tag order form (link below) and either mail payment to the office or use the locked drop-box by the office front door. Our mailing address is 325 Resource Dr., New Braunfels, TX 78132.
All tags ordered before 5pm on April 15th will cost $25 each.
All Late Tag Orders will cost $30 each.

Rabbit Validation (Nov 17), signup
Below you will find a signup genius link for rabbit validation on November 17th. Families will need to sign up for a time slot this year. This will help us keep under our lower than usual capacity at the extension office.

Swine Tags for Major Livestock Shows
To help with consistency and record keeping this year, we are introducing order forms for tag orders. No orders will be finalized without both the form and FULL payment. Orders are due directly to the extension office by Monday, September 21st @ 5pm.
Tags purchased after September 21 will be $30/animal.
You can submit the form and payment to the Extension Office by dropping them off in the black box by the front door or by appointment with the Extension Office (please call prior to arrival). You can also mail the form and payment to 325 Resource Dr., New Braunfels, TX 78132. It is your responsibility to make sure the mail arrives before the due date.

State Fair animals & Steers/Heifers

Horse Validation deadline extended
Upon the recommendation of the Texas State 4-H Horse Show
Committee, we have decided to extend the horse validation deadline to May 16th.
The price will also remain at $10/horse until validation closes. We
anticipate that the committee will be able to make a more informed decision
about the State 4-H Horse Show at the beginning of May, and the plan will be
communicated to you and the horse families as soon as it is solidified.
It is our hope that this change in validation will alleviate some of the
anxiety for families and allow them the time needed to make the best decision
for them. We have received several questions about the possibility of
refunds for validation in the case of cancellations. We are in the
discussion process now with the 4-H office and the State 4-H Horse Show
Committee on the best plan of action for validation funds. We ask that
you please bear with us as we navigate an everchanging and difficult
situation. Please know that we are committed to the 4-H horse project and
working together to achieve the best possible outcome for the youth
involved. We will be in touch at the beginning of May with a plan of
action.
2020 4-H Horse Validation
It’s that time
of year again to start horse project validations. Validation opened on
4-H Connect March 1st. Below you will find instructions for families. You can learn about the

The cost of
horse validation is as follows:
March 1st
– April 15th $10/horse
April 16th
– May 1st $20/horse
Late Validation
May 2nd – May 5th $250/horse
No validations will
be accepted by 4-H connect after May 5th for any reason.
